      I was born in Los Angeles and spent the first part of my life only blocks away from what I now call the dead ghetto. Having made the move to Orange County at age seven, I reaped the cultural benefits of a suburban upbringing. It wasn't until later that I understood the lens through which I perceive life is colored by my underlying comprehension that a half hour drive makes a world of difference in the way people are cultured.   

      It's that cultural disparity that I constantly work to breach in my writing. It is the fundamental goal of any writer to be understood at the cerebral as well as the emotional level, and to keep that connection consistent throughout the content. Whether I am writing to inform, entertain, or convince my reader, I keep my content approachable and engaging. My purpose is to transport readers to a destination of my choosing, and I can only accomplish that when I  begin by meeting my audience at their own level.
